A Summer to Remember: Reflecting on Growth, Gratitude and What Comes Next
As we look back on the summer months, it feels like the perfect opportunity to pause, reflect and appreciate just how far we have come.
Six and a half years ago, The Pink Elephant began with one small charcuterie box and a vision to bring people together through exceptional food, drinks and experiences. Today, that little idea has grown into something far bigger than we could have imagined, spanning private celebrations, corporate events, bespoke catering, entertainment and event styling across London and Hertfordshire.
It hasn't always been straightforward, and we certainly haven't had all the answers along the way. But one thing has remained constant: our passion for creating memorable experiences, supporting independent businesses and bringing people together. And this summer has been a wonderful reminder of why we do what we do.
A Summer Filled with Celebrations
From housewarmings and milestone birthdays to garden parties, American Independence Day celebrations and private dining experiences, our summer calendar has been filled with occasions that remind us how special it is to be part of people's celebrations. We've also had the pleasure of working on an exciting variety of corporate events across London, from rooftop gatherings to bespoke entertaining experiences in some wonderful locations.
Our offering continues to evolve, with clients looking for more than simply great food. They want atmosphere, creativity and experiences that bring people together, whether that's through live musicians, entertainment, beautifully presented charcuterie, canapés or relaxed, informal dining. One offering that has proved particularly popular this summer has been our barbecue packages.
Think peri-peri chicken skewers, grilled halloumi and vegetable skewers, sliced fillet steak with chimichurri, and chilli prawn and lime skewers, accompanied by a selection of six fresh salads prepared with our wonderful salad-making partners. Add freshly baked sourdough, beautifully presented charcuterie to begin, and brownies and sweet treats from our independent suppliers, and you have a summer menu designed for sharing, enjoying and bringing people together.
It's a style of catering that feels perfectly suited to the season: relaxed, generous and centred around good food and great company.
“Rooted in relationships, driven by passion 2026 and beyond is our opportunity to grow, evolve and dream bigger.”
Ian Henderson, Founder, The Pink Elephant
Growing with Our Corporate Community
Every summer has its standout moments, and this year, one experience in particular will stay with us for a long time. We had the opportunity to help transform an everyday office car park in St Albans into a vibrant mini festival for MrQ, the online gaming company. What began as a corporate event became an exciting opportunity to bring together catering, beverages, music, entertainment and event production in one carefully coordinated experience, all aligned with the client's brand guidelines.
From multiple food stations and bars to live entertainment and festival-inspired styling, the project brought together so many of the elements that make The Pink Elephant what it is today. It was our biggest and most ambitious project to date, and one that challenged us to think creatively, work collaboratively and deliver across multiple areas of the event experience. Most importantly, it reminded us of what can happen when a client trusts you with their vision and gives you the opportunity to bring it to life. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make it happen
A Different Pace, and Time to Reflect
August brought a slightly quieter period, with school holidays and many corporate decision-makers taking some well-deserved time away. For a business that has spent much of the year moving at pace, it was an opportunity to take a breath, reflect on the months behind us and consider where we want to go next.
Running a growing business can sometimes feel like you're constantly looking towards the next event, the next booking or the next opportunity. Taking time to step back is equally important. It allows us to review what's working, recognise where we can improve and think carefully about how we continue to develop the brand without losing sight of what made it special in the first place.
As September arrived and businesses returned to their usual routines, we were ready to get going again. We enjoyed a wonderful five-course, Latin-inspired, wine-paired dining experience in Fitzrovia for one of our corporate clients. It was a fantastic evening that brought together thoughtful menu planning, carefully selected wines and the kind of attention to detail that makes a dining experience memorable.
We also had the pleasure of bringing the summer to a close with an end-of-summer barbecue for the Harpenden Collective, a lovely way to celebrate the season with good food and great company. And just like that, our attention has turned towards the festive season.
Growing a Business Is About More Than Getting Bigger
As much as we celebrate the events, the menus and the wonderful experiences we create, there is another side to this journey that feels just as important to share. Growth brings opportunity, but it also brings responsibility, complexity and some very real lessons.
As a founder, one of the biggest things I continue to learn is how to scale a business sustainably. When you start with a small idea, you spend so much time thinking about what it could become. You see opportunities everywhere, say yes to exciting projects and want to make the most of every chance that comes your way. But growing a business isn't simply about doing more. It's about building the right foundations, developing the right relationships, understanding your capacity and knowing when to take the next step.
Looking back, there have undoubtedly been moments when we could have grown more slowly or approached certain things differently. There have been challenges to navigate, decisions to reconsider and lessons learned through experience rather than a textbook. But that's part of building something from the ground up.
You will try things that work brilliantly. You will try things that don't work at all. Sometimes you'll get the timing right, and sometimes you'll learn that you needed a little more time, a different approach or stronger foundations. The important thing is to keep learning. You cannot always know what you're capable of achieving until you give yourself the opportunity to try. And while ambition is important, so is recognising that sustainable growth takes patience, resilience and a willingness to adapt.
We're still learning, still evolving and still finding new ways to do things better. And I think that's something worth embracing rather than hiding.
The People Behind Every Experience
One of the greatest privileges of building The Pink Elephant has been the opportunity to work with so many talented people and independent businesses.
Our ethos has always been rooted in collaboration and supporting smaller, independent suppliers wherever possible. From our food producers and artisan suppliers to our wine partners, entertainers and creative collaborators, every relationship helps shape what we offer our clients. We are incredibly proud of the network we have built and the opportunity to bring these businesses together through our events. Just as importantly, I want to recognise the people who work behind the scenes to make everything happen.
The Pink Elephant is not simply one person or one team. It is a wider network of event stylists, consultants, designers, content writers, virtual assistants, event managers, chefs, freelance staff, summer team members and interns, all contributing their own skills and experience. From the initial enquiry and creative planning through to sourcing, preparation, logistics and execution on the day, there are so many moving parts behind every event. It takes a huge amount of coordination, commitment and teamwork to bring everything together, and I am incredibly grateful to everyone who has played a part in our journey this summer.
To our clients, thank you for trusting us with your celebrations, your businesses and your events. Many of you have supported us for years, returning to us for new occasions and recommending us to friends, family and colleagues. That continued trust means more than you might realise. Word of mouth remains one of the most powerful ways our brand grows, and there is something particularly special about knowing that someone has recommended us because of an experience we have created together. Those relationships are at the heart of what we do.
Looking Ahead: Bringing Something Special to the Festive Season
As the evenings draw in and the temperatures begin to drop, our focus is turning towards Christmas and the opportunities that the festive season brings. We are looking forward to working with our clients and partners to create a range of seasonal experiences, from beautifully presented charcuterie packages and festive canapés to bowl food, drinks packages and bespoke corporate celebrations.
Whether it's an intimate gathering, a private Christmas party or a larger corporate event, we want to help our clients create occasions that feel thoughtful, personal and memorable. As our business continues to evolve, we're also looking at how we can strengthen our offering, develop new partnerships and continue to learn from the changing hospitality and entertainment landscape.
We know the industry can be seasonal, and every year brings its own opportunities and challenges. But we remain excited about what lies ahead and committed to building a business that can continue to grow while staying true to its original values.
Six and a Half Years In, and Still Just Getting Started
When I think back to that first charcuterie box six and a half years ago, it's quite something to see how the business has developed. What began as a small idea has become a growing hospitality and events brand, built on relationships, creativity, collaboration and a genuine love of bringing people together. We haven't got everything right, and we don't pretend to have all the answers. But we have continued to show up, learn, adapt and push ourselves to explore what's possible.
If this summer has taught us anything, it's that growth is about more than the size of the events you deliver or the number of clients you work with. It's about the people you meet, the relationships you build, the lessons you learn and the experiences you create along the way. So, as we close the chapter on summer 2026, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to every client who has trusted us, every supplier who has supported us, every member of our wider team who has contributed their time and talent, and everyone who has followed our journey from the beginning.
The Pink Elephant has come a long way from one small charcuterie box, but our foundations remain the same: great food, thoughtful experiences, wonderful people and a belief in the power of bringing people together. Here's to everything we've learned, everything we're continuing to build and all the exciting experiences still to come.
